Etched Pixels / Ultima N Gauge Catalogue 2016 Coach Shells And Kits

Our tools allow us to produce 3D printed coach shells, etched floors, etched sides, ends and trusses relatively easily. Prices will depend upon the complexity of the work, the quality of drawings available, and the cost of any drawings.

3D Printed Roofs and Coach Shells

These are produced to order with a four to six week lead time. If you need them sooner then extra postage costs from Shapeways will also be charged, or we can arrange for you to purchase them directly from Shapeways yourself.

Typical prices for ex stock profiles are about £5 for a coach roof, £15 for a full coach shell and roof, and £20 for a full coach shell and compartment dividers. This varies somewhat depending upon the number ordered, the coach length (smaller is cheaper) and the Euro to Pound exchange rate. All coach shells can be supplied with a choice of Farish style bogie mounts, Dapol type mounts or screw type mounts. Where indicated we can also provided matching end overlays or trussing. Customisation to include pre-formed holes for ventilators as well as any roof bands can also be provided.

Currently we hold profiles on file for GWR bow ended, GWR K38, GWR M11, Great Central Matchboard Coaches, British Rail Mark 1 Suburban, Gresley non vestibule, Thompson non vestibule, Midland arc roof, LMS six wheel CCT, LMS X-Fish, LNWR 30'1 arc roof and LSWR EMU (roof only), LSWR Ironclad, LBSCR Balloon and arc roof coaches.

Some GWR Clerestory profiles and LTSR bogie stock, are in preparation.

We provide shells and roofs to match many third party etches including Worsley Works, Taylor Precision Models and Bill Bedford.

Etched/White metal Coach Shells

The etched floors fit the white metal ends/metal roof and plastic end/roofs. We can also supply etched floors with fold up ends and hold the following profiles on file: LBSCR Stroudley, LBSCR Billinton, LBSCR Panter 'Balloon', GWR siphon, GWR monster, SECR 'continental', some SR bogie van and various early LSWR profiles.

We can, and do, produce coach shells with curved ends, inset doors and other complications but this will increase the cost as will preparation of new profiles.

Where there are complete rolling shells (e.g. our Maunsell coaches, RTR Dapol Gresley coaches etc.) we can usually produce new sides for the shells relatively easily.

We are also able to produce vans and open wagons to fit the Peco wagon chassis and to fit the N Gauge Society six wheel chassis.

Because of the complexity of work involved we do not normally consider custom locomotive projects or custom wagon chassis.

Roof, ends, floor, truss rods and torpedo vents for building a basic shell to use with third party Thompson coach side etches.

A small amount of filling of the plastic roof is needed.

UMC2003B: Thompson coach shell (59ft) (2mm) In stock, order, £10.95

Roof, ends, floor, truss rods and torpedo vents for building a basic shell to use with third party Thompson coach side etches. The roof requires trimming down for these shorter coaches.

UMC2004: Hawksworth coach shell (2mm) In stock, order, £9.95

Plastic moulded roof, ventilators and ends plus etched floors to produce a basic Hawksworth shell for use with third party sides. You will need to order appropriate truss rods and detailing parts.

UMC2006: Bulleid Coach Shell (2mm) 63ft In stock, order, £14.95

Roof, floor, trusses, vents and ends to produce a Bullied coach shell for use with third party 2mm sides (eg Bill Bedford).

A small amount of filling of the plastic roof is needed.
