British Rail rebuilt six Gresley non vestibule coaches as CCT car carriers. They served in this rôle for a few years before entering departmental service. This kit represents E96202E in departmental condition with the door windows plated.

These inspection saloons were built from 1944 onwards and lasted well into the rail blue era, with at least one receiving inter-city style livery in the 1980s. Seven of them were then preserved.

The kit consists of a fold up etched sides and floor, etched ends, solebars, footboards, truss frames, a polished 3D printed roof profile pre-marked for ventilator fitting, brass buffers, white metal castings, vents, wire, glazing and screws. It is accompanied by instructions and reference photographs.

You will need to provide bogies (UM577) - or Farish Mark 1 bogies can be used, plus a couple of round pins or similar.

A pair of etched sides to convert the Dapol autocoach into the later diagram A38/39/40-43 style built by British Rail.

This design was introduced by British Rail in 1954. They lasted in passenger use until 1964 when the auto-trains were replaced by diesel multiple units. Many went on to departmental use and several are preserved.

Famous departmental examples include the A38 diagram Derby Research Liveried 'Test Car 1' now at the Midland Railway Centre.
